Women's Health & Cancer Rights
Although the Fund has provided the following benefit since January 1, 1998, Federal law requires this notice for all participants who are eligible for Hospital, Medical, Surgical and Major Medical Benefits.
The Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998 requires that any group health plan that covers mastectomies must also cover breast reconstruction and prostheses effective January 1, 1999. This includes reconstruction of the breast on which the mastectomy was performed; surgery and reconstruction of the other breast to produce a symmetrical appearance; and prostheses and treatment of physical complications at all stages of the mastectomy, including lymphedemas, in a manner determined in consultation with the attending physician and the patient. This benefit is subject to any deductibles or co-insurance in your specific Plan.
